Chloe is our senior doe and our herd queen. She’s seven and a half years old and has been in milk for 600 days as of today. Most goats are kept in milk for nine or ten months of the year, with time off to replenish their calcium stores while pregnant. Chloe didn’t get pregnant last year and just kept right on milking. She’s amazing.
When she has the chance, she likes to take a short walkabout before her milking session and breakfast. She follows the same route each time – out of the pen, up the west side of the house, around the front, down the east side, across the back yard, to the far corner of the back fence, and then backtracks until she gets to the milking parlor. Some days, she goes twice. I think I need to get her a FitBit.
See those tracks in the snow next to the retaining wall? Those are moose tracks.
